Yesterday, on the Senate floor, a former police officer & now Republican State Rep, Barry Hovis (white middle aged man), coined this term: “Consensual rape” regarding the new recent legislation to BAN ABORTION. Wow. These words are a complete contradiction! Not to mention tone deaf to the utmost degree.
This new Abortion Law will criminalize abortion even in incest & rape cases. This man seems to think that MOST RAPES are DATE RAPES & he had the ignorant nerve to call date rape: “consensual rape.”
We as a nation DIGRESS. First it is one step forward with the “MeToo” movement. And now it is TWO STEPS BACK. “Consensual Rape???? Really?? Not cool, U.S. legislators & several states in this unbelievable unconstitutional move to steal a woman’s right to her body. What has this America we live in, come to? I am beginning to be not so proud of living here anymore. I am so utterly disappointed in the part of our American nation & culture that is so unevolved & reckless. Doesn’t anybody remember the bloody back ally coat hanger days?
What ever happened to the separation of Church & State? And, please don’t try use the card: “SCIENCE proves that life begins at conception.” That still doesn’t change a woman’s right to personal autonomy wherefore she has the first & last say in her own moral aptitude regarding her womb.
“Separation of church and state” is paraphrased from Thomas Jefferson and used by others in expressing an understanding of the intent and function of the Establishment Clause and Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution which reads: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” —Online source

– vastly improved prenatal care
– universal health care
– vaccinations
– better gun laws
Things that are deeply hateful & not at all pro-life:
– this whole fucking travesty of a misogynistic Georgia abortion law”
