Rules of Edible Engagement

LqZP1EMN“Eat Food, not too much, mostly plants” is what our species has done for hundreds of thousands of years. It’s good universal advice that is timeless & has been proven effective.

Don’t eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food. Eat food that comes from a plant, not made in one. Food that doesn’t need a label is what nature intended. Pluck it off the vine, off the tree, up from the dirt if ya can.

If you are gonna choose to eat meat, treat it like a treat, eat it once a week. Consider dairy alternatives. Purchase only local organic humanely farm raised fare. Regard seafood as sacred. Behave accordingly.

elvgren-picture_076

Eat deliberately to enjoy & savor texture, flavor & the moment to moment experience. Eat s-l-o-w-e-r. Take your time. Try to spend as much time enjoying the meal as it took to prepare it. Appreciate your bites. Chew mindfully. Pick out a smaller plate, bowl or cup. Eat in smaller portions. Stop before your full.

Enjoy food in good company. Eating is a celebration with others, a tribute to your health. Recognize in the moment how food is serving your nutritional needs. Praise the beauty of its nourishment. There is pleasure in eating. Sit, cherish, relax & chew cheerfully.

Be in bright spirits with merry thoughts. Cultivating a relaxed, non-punitive attitude toward food is essential to the dissemination of nutrients & the assimilation of their benefits. Being anxious about eating is not the ideal. Make your everyday default practice, one that is nurturing.

“All things in moderation, including moderation” —Oscar Wilde.

That said…break the rules once in a while. Go ahead & share dessert with guiltless zest!

Eat many colors. Propose a toast. Say grace. Always tip your server generously & always hug the Chef! Bon appetit! Cheers!

The Last Meal

The Last Meal> BFF: Bacon & Eggz

Back in Culinary school, we were asked to name the “Last Meal” we would choose to have if we were gonna pass on in a few hours. If we were given the option to enjoy one last delicious Hoo- Ra before we sail off into the sunset to meet the Big man in the sky….just… what would it be?

ronswanson4Ya know what my answer was every time someone ever asked me that? Bacon & over easy eggs on buttered toast. Hands down.

“Dippy eggs” we used to call them as a term of endearment for the poor little unhatched chic sweet peas. Then we have the slathered melty, buttery, good ole polka dotted wonder white, nutrient-free, bleached fake fortified bread product…lol. And at last… we have thee most elite guilty pleasure of all to ever to hit the palate or plate stage…

Thee RockStar of every kitchen across the globe: BACON.

I am it’s #1 fan, believe me. Just like the fat kid that loves cake I love bacon, just as much as the next guy. Crispity, greas-pity, crumble in your mouth-watering; lick your lips sizzling; mini orgasm in a pan frying: BACON. Geez, it’s even fun & satisfying to muse about.

october-1997-he-looked-good-seven-years-tibet-laBecoming Vegan & giving up bacon, is just like dating a super model or Matthew McConaughey (for the ladies) & then… breaking up forever…to never again partake in the fantastic pleasure of their acquaintance ever… ever…. again. All that’s left is a dreamy memory, a fantasy of what was, & pretty much… a skeleton in the wind. Then the usual forward motion protocol… is typically to compare every next person to the god or goddess template, who will essentially never really truly compare. We’ve all had that template person at one point, I’m sure.supermodel-perfection-1419587607

Well, in this case, BACON is that template person, & it’s not the easiest break-up to shake. We as a society…revere it. We put bacon on a pedestal, & have praised its greasy glory for many moons. We definitely are a peculiar brand of people, I must say.images-1315baconfestwinner

.mw-bv926_breakf_mg_20140304230342This photo is fondly named: “Breakfast in America.” Wow, right?

487238618

But, look how simple… Look how beautiful…

Eggs, butter, bacon & cheese are RockStars in my book. As a Culinary Artist, moving forward, I find it depressing to not be able to utilize these essential ingredients to every Chefs forte. But….oh well. I will suck it up, I guess. It is a small sacrifice for a morally worthwhile very significant cause. Saving God’s creatures is King. On the ethically-correct scale…preserving Mother Nature & respecting all life is Top Dog. I’m not a jellyfish with no backbone who can’t sit up straight or practice a little healthy self-discipline for the sake of the greater good. I don’t just talk a good game cause I can. I talk it, cause I honor the unspoken code of loyalty to mankind & integrity of personhood. My money is where my mouth is. Is yours?

I am a bonified 100% American Chef trained foodie who loves & appreciates ALL cuisines, & If I am willing to go Vegan for the sake of: service to the Planet…..then….so can you, my friend…so-can-YOU.

Not sayin’ it’s gonna be a walk in the park or a sail down the waterslide….but it’ll be an adventure worth every mini attitude adjustment made. The cleaned up karma alone, is one valuable long-term benefit to look forward to. With regard to a spiritual standpoint…due to the elevation of vibrational frequency via the consumption of vibrant plant-based foods, both personal & planetary karma will be reversed naturally.

All in the scheme of things, like a series of events that follow one after the other in sequence, the significant behavioral changes that take place due to a newly launched or practiced Vegan lifestyle…result in a new set of circumstances. “Cause & effect” is altered when the new invisible energetic trends fall like dominoes through the portals of planetary improvement. Thus… a new found freedom transpires. Freedom from the ball & chain of outdated toxic programs & patterns. Wonderbread be gone!

Breakin’ the unbreakable chain is a worthwhile feat… for the advent of a New World order is at hand, & the dawn of a better day is upon us. Essentially, the toilet is getting flushed of all the substandard practices of a formerly morally corrupt human society.

Keeping in mind that the decision to embark upon a Vegan lifestyle can be a gradual change for those going at their own pace… progress, not perfection would be appropriate to insert here. ANY small change is contributing to the welfare of mankind. The greater good surely appreciates all effort & steps toward positive change. Going Vegan cold turkey (lol) very well may be a challenge in such ways. However, effort & small adjustments do indeed add up to bigger ones eventually, for sure. Mini changes are changes too. Adjusting one’s self, life, daily habits & patterns may take some time & concerted effort. Prioritizing accordingly might indeed be called for…a Re-Eval as they say. Even a certain death may seem to take place. Grieving the loss of not only cherished edible delights but also the fond memories that go with them.

All the lavish warm holidays spent gathered around a juicy browned turkey by candle lite with all the tidings & trimmings of a meat & dairy infused love fest. The Sunday dinners at Mama Lucia’s house with a big lush bowl of spagetts & meat-a-ballz-a. I for one… grew up in an off the boat Italian family that did not take no for an answer! lol. One did not sit at the table with my grandfather at the helm &….not partake of all the hard work & effort of my Mom-Mom Zapparelli & her kitchen entourage. That would be disrespectful! The cold hard stare could make you cry… lol. So yes, many of us will have to make certain calls at certain times…understandable. Life certainly is not black & white. It looks to me like life actually has a pretty extravagant full-color 3-dimensional scheme like OZ. So yea, use your best judgment. People matter too…

hqdefault

But, oh will I miss….that endearing paper thin prosciutto puffed up upon the slate plate, the creamy decadence of French Brie, the tart crumble of ripe herb rolled Chevre, Spanish Manchego aged to perfection, the smoky or nutty caramelly flavor profiles of  gratifying Gouda & the sharp & lovely bite of champagne & cheddar together. Not to mention, the superior smothering skills of magnificent Mozzarella!!

What else will be missed? The Antipasti spread charming the pants off a good gathering of precious pairings of people, wine, brew & spirits off the deck or by the pool & bonfire. The backyard grill-outs that coined dogs & brats & burgers king of the food chain. Who doesn’t love love love wings & football? The New Years Eve after party bacon & eggs at 3am, that fantastic smoker out back by the barn, KFC, Taco Bell Grande, Micky-D’s, Mc-Everything!

Cook-OUT, Pizza Pizza Pizza! Mom’s homemade meatloaf, Prime Rib at the club or convention. Succulent sauced low n slow cooked baby-backs with coleslaw, mac salad, or potato salad. Biscuits, sausage & gravy,  or (S.O.S.) creamed chipped beef. Southern fried genius, corned beef & cabbage, pulled pork, beef brisket, jerky, BBQ & stew. Quiche, Crepes, souffle, creme brulee, mid-rare grass fed filet. Cheesy mac, cheesy fries, cheese steak, cheese sauce, cheese curls, cheese balls, a loaded baked potat-a, a chicken Pot-Pie. Baked ziti, lasagna, ravioli, parmesan encrusted everything. French toast, French Crullers, buttercream frosting, pudding, sundaes, yogurt, m&m’s……. WTF???

Not fair. I get it. lol.

Vegan Challenge: Day 5/Nutritional Awareness

237a75233130d093c86e9303f78d18b2

Well, folks, it is Day 5 of my 7-Day Vegan Challenge & I lost 3lbs already, I feel much lighter & brighter & quite magical, I must say. I do miss eggs, yogurt, sour cream & cheeze most of all, I must admit, however, I haven’t had a field trip to the whole foods market as of yet though either. Exploring the zillions of multiple options that are available as replacements for meat & dairy….is an essential step within the Vegan initiation process

.veg-grocery-compilation

On my way to Veganhood! Join me, guys… on the Freedom march!download-5meat_substitute_vegetarian_deli_slices_lightlife-2

Freedom from carrying the weight of “the sin of mankind” on our backs. Draggin’ the dusty crusty Karmic influx of poor choices & greedy gorging around with us throughout our lives. Off with their heads, I say! The slaughter-man should taste his own medicine. The senseless slaughtering of animals is mass murder. These massacres take place hidden from the general population, daily. That is not something that is morally righteous. In fact, it is WRONG. And, I am not afraid to say it.

We must practice Veganism wisely though, & that means that it is essential to our mental & physical well-being to have vitamin & nutrient resource knowledge. Veganhood might be a challenging lifestyle change for some, especially at first. But it is well worth the health benefits, moral kudos & all around Auric amplification. You will GLOW brighter guaranteed. You will grow stronger with vitality, energy, endurance & with a tougher resistance to sickness or disease via the natural immunity boosters A Vegan diet provides. Come on guys…it’s really, a no-brainer.

antioxidantd

My recommendation with regard to meat/dairy replacement items is to allow yourself the allotted time it takes to investigate, explore, experiment & essentially taste many different versions, variations & brands of the vegan/vegetarian substitutes. Keep a little fun pocket book list or journal to document your preferences. That little book will likely be your most valuable resource in the coming weeks & months, until you taste your way to acclimating new habits which blossom into second nature choices just like when we would choose our favorite go-to trusted brands of meat & dairy, without a second thought. Eg: Oscar Meyer, Hellman’s, Kraft, Velveeta, Breyers, Perdue.

After some healthy research on Vegan cheese & egg substitutes…I found that this next brand has the most stars & is a top-rated Vegan product with an excellent reputation. Not to mention…who can resist the name! Follow Your Heart

Follow your Heart Vegan Delish! <<Click here for a variety of diff cheese alternatives, an egg alternative, dips, dressings, mayo…

Follow Your Heart/Store Locator <<Click here for your local neighborhood hub 🙂

As previously mentioned, with regard to being nutritionally informed & nutrient sound, as a Virgin Vegan….(as I was called last nite by a co-worker….lol)…..It is NECESSARY to be well aware of vita-resources.

Excellent resource guide for Vitamins/Nutrients/Minerals for the Vegan Diet

I also do feel inclined to mention & emphasize the importance of B-12. I would recommend taking a b-12 supplement whether Vegan or not. Our bodies don’t produce enough of this naturally & we do not always ingest it from foods enough either.

A slight deficiency of vitamin B-12 can lead to anemia, fatigue, mania, and depression, while a long term deficiency can potentially cause permanent damage to the brain and central nervous system. Vitamin B-12, or Cobalamin, is naturally found solely in animal foods and thus vegans have to supplement their diets with fortified foods or supplements.

Vegan Challenge: Day 3

fast_food_collageDay three of my 7-day Vegan challenge & I am not gonna lie…on my evening leisure walk to the local shopping center last nite, I felt completely assaulted by the scent filled breezes. As I approached the entrance-way to civilization….I noticed the smell of fried food in the air, the smell of tacos from “El Cerro Grande,” the smell of chicken from “Buffalo Wild Wings” & the smell of an almost salacious beef fantasy… piping thick chimney-like smoke out into the atmosphere via “Cookout.” Not fair! Not fair! Not fair to a Vegan, I say!

these-fast-food-food-facts-willmake-you-wanna-go-vegan1Let me try & help us all out a bit. I plan to continuously expand & grow within this realm, belief system, community, & conscious awareness. I will post links accordingly. It is circa 2017, there is way more availability & accessibility & affordability to this Vegan/Vegetarian lifestyle than ever, ever before, folks… in every city, town, state, community nationwide & worldwide.

Many cultures have actually been practicing these Vegan & Vegetarian principles, for not only decades but also centuries. The truth shall prevail! The Lion will indeed lay with the Lamb, & justice will be served. Which simply means that everybody will live peacefully together. I am fully aware that there will always be a natural food-chain in place with regard to the Animal Kingdom, for the purpose of population control & the harmony of the ecosystem. However, the senseless killing of creatures for greedy gain as opposed to survival or necessity, will in due time cease to exist. It is against Universal Law & producing mass karmic backlash for our collective human evolution & must be stopped for the sake of humanity if we are to protect & preserve our Race on Earth. With regard to the Lion/Lamb metaphor, the Bible quotes: “None will harm or destroy another on my entire holy mountain, for the land will be as full of the knowledge of the Lord as the sea is filled with water.” Isaiah 11:9 The knowledge will be Veganism, if you will. Get VEGUCATED!

Going Vegan solves so many world issues it’s ridiculous. If the world went Vegan, it would create an enormous chain reaction, in a variety of streams. On a grand scale, it is a perfect solution for world hunger. It is the most superior proactive form of environmental protection. Veganism can prevent & eliminate illnesses, diseases, the necessity for countless doctors, the overuse & addiction to endless chemicals & drugs, make the endangerment of any species obsolete…. & it will ultimately promote the Earth’s utmost preservation. If we all became Vegan today, we would change the game significantly. The word Significantly doesn’t even scratch the surface regarding the positive impact we would have on the dysfunctional interrelation of all things causing massive problems in our worldly system. We would reverse the probable demise of our Earth as we know it. We would essentially Save the Planet! We would be heroes. True heroes. You can choose to be a hero today! Get Vegucated! GoVegan now!

b93c3df8cf8a32c207861d7d3ff6bd84cezx74nwqaerpfuac587db5aa854eb54766c7c8f7a23e6aa537186a

I am not “religious.” I do not believe in organized religion, even though I had once called myself “Christian” 20 years ago. I was studying Christianity & Church hopping while participating in the singing of praises part @ any service that had music. It was fun & interesting & was a phase I had to indeed travel through to get to where I am today. However, the Bible contains phrases that I do believe genuinely are relevant to the campaign for Universal peace & love that I practice & live today. Plus, Christians make up a huge percentage of the world. It’s nice to be able to refer to books & customary traditions or beliefs that people can relate to. My goal is to reach people on a Universal level, no matter age, race, religion, creed or culture. We are all human beings from Planet Earth. Period.

images-6Muslims, Hindus, & the cultures of India are predominately Vegetarian/Vegan & have practiced belief systems that generally view all animals as sacred creatures to be honored not harmed or murdered. The Hare Krishnas practice “Krishna Consciousness” & are strictly Vegetarian.

When I was a street musician hippie chick back in the 90s traveling cross country, we used to get fed in every city via the Hare Krishna Temples. foodforlifesignThey welcome everyone as long as you leave your shoes at the door, & observe their 45-minute spirit infused service. The experience is inviting & uplifting even if you don’t understand the language. It’s all about raising vibration there. The service is decked out in fresh flowers detailing ornate portraits of Blessed Deities, Lord Krishna, Hindu Gods & Goddesses. The beautiful beaded, jeweled, & gemmed stylings of this handcrafted luxurious temple for sacred worship…. are surely a sight for sore eyes. They dance, they sing, they speak in tongues it sounds like…& they praise the bounty & beauty of Krishna! The word Krishna means: “Energy of God.” The energy of God does not approve of the murder of animals.images-7

The Hare Krishna Book of Vegetarian Cooking by Adiraja Dasa <this cookbook is probably one of the best Vegetarian cookbooks ever written. Let me tell you, the Hare Krishna’s “Sunday Feast” @ 5pm in every city nationwide, is hands down probably the BEST Vegetarian/Vegan cuisine you will ever taste in your life.

They are master chefs & bakers.download-3 They have mastered the art of Vegan/Vegetarian cuisine. The finest preparations of meat & dairy dishes… pale in comparison to this scrumptious edible Food Art. Straight up. I myself have never tasted anything better. They feed 1000s of people weekly. They bring the food out in giant buckets & large sheet trays. It’s like a long buffet line that you can go through as many times as you want, & it’s like Christmas morning every time, I swear. images-10Every food item is spiced to perfection & half the time you have no idea what you are even eating….but you don’t care, cause that is how amazing it is! Honestly, I haven’t tasted better more enjoyable flavorful food since…& my last barefoot squat on a Krishna Temple floor was just over 20 years ago, now…

And the smell in there!!! INTOXICATING… If you weren’t hungry when you walked through the door, you WILL BE….you can bet on that. Not to mention, the kind of incense these people make… is definitely in a class of its own. Nowhere else can you find incense that smells this good. Believe me, I have tried.

il_340x270-1116555473_f6fjLets talk MILK a second. Got Milk? Well, what I got is much more beneficial and… informative. Discretion is advised:

“We may call the cows who produce milk “mothers,” but they never actually get to be mothers because their babies are taken away from them after birth. And we certainly don’t treat them with the respect that mothers deserve. Cows and other factory-farmed female animals endure being raped repeatedly, and their babies are torn away from them before they’re all killedCows produce milk for the same reason that humans do: to nourish their young. In order to force them to produce as much milk as possible, farmers typically impregnate cows every year using a device that the industry calls a “rape rack.”

The very core of factory farming is breeding. Farmers exploit the female reproductive system to keep up a steady influx of new victims whom they can turn into “products” on supermarket shelves.

Cows are forcibly raped, and calves are deliberately orphaned to produce milk.” —-www.peta.org

Is Your Food a Product of Rape? <Click Here to find out.

Cows Used for Food <Very informative article on amazing cows.

Without the deliberate and systemic violation of female bodies, the animal agriculture industry would crumble. That includes ALL ANIMALS that are being forced to produce eggs, babies, or milk for human consumption that are in fact raped & forced to breed & reproduce unnaturally. The Animal Product Industry is not just killing animals, but torturing them. This is UNACCEPTABLE & these deplorable inhumane people should INDEFINITELY BE PROSECUTED IN A COURT OF LAW>

There is no excuse for the daily hidden multi-billion dollar motivated flagrant disrespect & dishonoring of animals. It’s not something I believe should be taken lightly. The next time you are roaming down The Dead Animal Isle or the milk, butter, eggs, ice cream, cheese & yogurt Isle of Shame…make sure you see this picture in your mind before you make a contribution to the greedy Animal Terrorists. cows-and-cats-lovers-since-birth

Cows wanna be Moms too. They deserve to bond with their young, raise them & nurture them just like us. They are smart, loving, sweet creatures that are more than suitable pet alternatives. They shouldn’t be treated like a commodity or object only for the purpose of material gain. They are living breathing creatures with a heart beat. So why should their precious lives be assaulted & exploited? It’s not morally correct or humane. Period. End of story.

Vegan Challenge: Day 2

pigs_natural_lifeWelcome to my pages, thank you for stopping by. This entry is Day Two of my “7-day Vegan” challenge. SHARING IS CARING. Share this article if you care 🙂 Stay tuned for more, as I plan to continue to educate & inform, as well as document my progress in blog posts to come. I invite you all to join me, it’ll be fun!

Today I am gonna start with some Pig facts. I think pigs are cute. They are like fat curly tail dogs with giant snouts.

  • Pigs are extraordinarily intelligent. They are curious and insightful animals who are widely accepted as being smarter than young children of at least 3 years of age, dogs, and even some primates.
  • Pigs are extremely social animals. They form close bonds with other individuals and love close contact and lying down together.
  • Pigs are very clean, keeping their toilet area far away from where they lie down and eat. Even newborn piglets will leave the nest to go to the toilet within hours of birth.

simple-pig-pen-design

So next time you might be compelled to call someone a “pig” for being sloppy or unclean….think again!

I too was guilty of wearing blinders in previous days, weeks, months & years, by over & over & over again, remaining ignorant to: the undeniable inhumane treatment to other living creatures & royal species on this Earth… by none other than… humans. I am horrified with regard to the matter, & get completely jacked up with a warranted rage within, when I so much as think about for one second, the way that our society has deemed the slaughtering of animals as a noncriminal act. ANY HUMAN BEING THAT HAS THE GALL TO MISTREAT, ABUSE, HARM, HURT, OR TORTURE ANOTHER LIVING BREATHING CREATURE SHOULD BE IMPRISONED IN A CELL WITH NO WINDOWS, FOUR WALLS PAPERED WITH PHOTOS OF SLAUGHTERED ANIMALS, & A BIG GIANT MIRROR TO FACE THEMSELVES WITH… NEXT TO WHAT THEY HAVE DONE… FOR THE REST OF THEIR NATURAL LIFE. That sounds about right. Either that, or hung….like in the old Wild West days in front of all their peers in the town hall like the spectacle they are. Heck, burn them at the stake for all it’s worth, they are the real Heretics of our day. These people are psychopaths, just as serial killers. They are the serial killers of the precious animal species. They are murderous people that deserve legal backlash & karmic consequences.

The Special Victims Unit (SVU) is the name of a specialized division within some police departments. The detectives in this division typically investigate crimes involving sexual assault or victims of non-sexual crimes who require specialist handling such as the very young, or the very elderly, or the handicapped. There certainly is room available in that slot of specialty for: crimes  against animals. Government can easily add this crime to their docket. I believe animal killers should be held accountable with the same laws & standards that convicted murderers are, such as being sentenced to Death Row,  life w/o parole, 23-hour lockdown, slop food & minimal human interaction for the duration of their days.

The accepted standard we were taught as children when we were vulnerable spongey students of the collective mind was all wrong all along. If you grew up in America, at least….you were told by sensationalism, media, propaganda, teachers, schools, TV programs, churches & marketing models that to consume the likes of bacon, lunchmeat, hot dogs, burgers, pork, chicken, beef, duck, turkey, lamb, Foie Gras, steak & lobster, meatballs & sausage, cheese, milk, butter, yogurt & ice cream, is ethical proper behavior. We were told that it is healthy & necessary for optimal health & nutrition, physical strength, endurance, well being, growth, & weight control when applied accordingly to various diet plans or bodybuilding strategies. For example, the Atkins diet promotes nothing but a protein packed strict adherence mostly via animal products. The theory behind Dr. Atkins’ diet is that by cutting down on starchy foods like potatoes, bread, and pasta and eating mainly protein and fats like meat, eggs, and cheese you can eat as much as you want and still lose weight. Holy cow! (no pun intended) Isn’t that a dream come true for most people!… It was contagious & trendy, folks were obsessed with this “all protein” fad & the craze of this particular diet swept the country at one time…giving the animal killing industry a big economic boost, I bet.

Here are some familiar examples of slogans, advertisements, subliminal messages & hypnotic repetitive suggestions that we grew up with: “Pork is the new white meat” “Milk does a body good!” “My Bologna has a first name…” And… “Happy Meals” are….well…HAPPY! Hamburgers & hot dogs are the All-American party favorite. “BallPark Franks” are the prime staple on the bleachers of all sporting events. My personal favorite…pizza, pizza, & more pizza! I am willing to bet that any one of the following pizza joints are less than a mile away from where you are right now…Domino’s, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Chuck E Cheese’s, or Little Caesars. Lets’ not even start the “chicken wings” industry conversation, it’s upsetting & appalling. We’ll save that awful demonstration of straight human debauchery…for a later discussion. It’s not okay, btw, to consume chicken wings. Not on “Gameday” not on 10cent wing nite, not cause your drunk at 2Am, and they just well….you couldn’t resist.

Mac & cheese is every kid’s favorite thing. And I am willing to bet that upwards of 85% of American restaurants nationwide offer “chicken fingers & fries” as the first item on the kid’s menu. Shit… diners, waffle & pancake houses, Denny’s, & Perkins everywhere would go out of business if we didn’t mass produce eggs by the thousands. The colorful dying of eggs at Easter time is considered an endearing family tradition. Eggs seem to be that go-to prime source of inexpensive protein that all demographics have access to no matter what socio-economic class they are in.

I gotta say…fish oil & krill oil is actually really just a disguised fancy snake oil, if ya ask me. Omega 3 fatty acids are found in flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, beans, leafy greens, berries, wild rice, honeydew, mangoes, herbs & spices…just to mention a few. It is simply not necessary to take this supplement…for any reason. Fisheries can be cruel operations just as the slaughter houses & factory farms. We will explore that subject matter later.

Then we have the wildly celebrated “Turkey day” better known as….. Thanksgiving. The Turkey has long been associated with the connection to the Earth and its blessings. This spirit animal reminds us of the importance of our relationship with the land and nature as a reciprocal source of nourishment and sustenance. It tells us that in order to receive the land’s blessings, we also need to honor the land. Isn’t that ironic? We behave quite to the contrary …..this sacred animal is shot instead, with hormones & antibiotics & then mass produced like lemon drops on a conveyor belt in a most invasive, unethical, inhumane, & criminally dishonorable way, just to DIE a tragic death essentially & go overstock supermarket bins everywhere. It’s shameful. The Thanksgiving holiday has turned into a greedy money market of Turkey killing. It’s a sham disguised as a worthwhile celebration of thankfulness. We shouldn’t need a holiday to practice gratitude anyway. Not to mention, the whole traditional historic truth on what we are even celebrating on that day, the story of Thanksgiving, is a farce. We were only told a portion of the truth. Native American Indians were tortured, raped, burned alive, beaten & killed shortly after that original “feast” circa 1614. Their land was stolen from them, & they were taken as slaves. Check this out> THE REAL STORY OF THANKSGIVING by Susan Bates

I have always been a positive person. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Christ, I just wrote a book called “The Book of Beautiful Feelings!” I realize that we all associate fun-loving, family, friendly, romantic, cozy, happy connection, affection, togetherness, warm & fuzzy feelings….with all the countless preparations of meat & dairy products that we have shared & prepared over the lengthy decades of our lives. Our memory banks are stored with fond significant recollections of these food memories. In times past, the use of meat & dairy in the cultural rituals & traditions we shared with each other even so far as defined us on some level & reflected our quality of life experience. Holidays & celebrations of all kinds were built around decked out tables or extravagant feasts with meat & dairy so proudly displayed… after much hard intricate careful kitchen craftsmanship & work. Most celebratory feasts seem to always showcase an animal guest of honor browned & decorated & lifeless upon the lovely spread rich with side dishes likely infused with cheese, milk & butter. Meals built with meat & dairy are used to reward, recognize, reach, bless, impress or inspire people, especially in the culinary world. The rabbit hole goes deep. I am fully aware of that. All the beautiful feelings associated with these foods are actually strung quite boldly & fluently throughout my book. I pay special tribute to American traditions, food customs & warm memories that most of us relate to that include meat & dairy. I obviously wrote the book before I woke up to Veganism. But it is still all good. The book contains all the relevant features of us as an “American Culture” & there is no harm in the capturing of that essence. It is essentially where we came from, & we cannot just discount our history. It is a part of who we are & that is a beautiful thing. And, I feel blessed, because going forward, I will now be able to look back & say that I have experienced the best of both worlds…. And, I chose to stick with the Vegan lifestyle based on knowledge & experience.

With that said: Book Synopsis <BUY BOOK HERE 🙂

As I was saying, I believe in the general goodness of humanity, I see the glass half full. I practice a life of gratitude & I would love to be able to sugar coat everything while wearing a sharp pair of rose-colored glasses. But, sometimes, ya just gotta say what has to be said…because it is the right thing to do. Revolutionaries, peacemakers, Nobel Peace Prize nominees, saints, prophets, gurus & great leaders were not docile inhibited people who were afraid to speak the truth in fear that it would tarnish their reputations, shatter perceptions, break belief systems, rules, laws, regulations, traditions or habits. Eg: Bono, Malala, Nelson Mandela, Bob Marley, Rosa Parks, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Oprah Winfrey.

With that said, If I could picket outside in front of every single slaughterhouse nation & worldwide, I would spend my life waking up on the lawn of a different house of horrors every single day if I had to….just to wake up: EVERYONE ELSE. Not to mention the IMMENSE carbon footprint that factory farming is responsible for leaving. It is the #1 cause of climate change/global warming beyond ANY OTHER action or operation in the world. Should I repeat that?

I will not support the unnatural senseless, unnecessary murder of animals any longer. From this day forward, I will choose to be an animal rights advocate &  will boycott any & all animal products within my own personal domain.

I will be the first to admit, that a Chef trained individual aspiring to go Vegan, like myself… will certainly be at odds with what they were taught with regard to traditional French cuisine, the history of food & all the several generations of classic techniques & traditions passed down as gifts to be cherished, & recipes to be treasured, persued, & practiced. I myself certainly am having an inner conflict. I am an adventurous explorer of all foods. Food is Art to me, & I have a sincere & well-developed palate of appreciation for all food groups & the endless variations of creative flavor, texture & combination that defines the Culinary world.  Anthony Bourdain’s adventures across the globe to expose & explore all sorts of different cultural traditional cuisines, styles, street snacks & what not….is fascinating to me. I am an advocate for the Culinary fantasia that is inspiring, delicious, artful, creative, magical, alchemical, ritualistic, classic or nouveau & beautiful. But, by no means do I endorse what is happening on an industrial scale in our world & society at large. I believe that to partake in the indulgence of an animal is a very sacred & special privilege & should not be simply revered as a common commodity that you may just roll into any Walmart & buy for 2-20$ in the “factory possessed” meat dept.

When I was a Culinary student 12 years ago, one day, our Chef Instructors told us that we had to come to class the next day prepared to kill a live lobster. I was absent that next day.

As a Culinary Artist & food stylist, I am required to work with all types of ingredients. It is my job & duty as a food professional to have this skill set. We were taught that this is morally correct according to collegic standard & the American Education System with regard to a Culinary Arts program, degree, certificate or diploma.

Hunting for survival or Native American tactic & technique is one thing…A caged-free, free range chicken that lays eggs on the local family owned farm is acceptable to some extent once in a while, fishing can be a fascinating endeavor & experience on appropriate occasions. But, have you ever gone to an aquarium & visited the lobster tank? Well….I have. These guys are like giant prehistoric monster creatures, that seem to have the ability to communicate with their eyes through the glass. They are amazing & beautiful creatures that appear to be conscious actually.  I do not believe they should be hurt, captured, harmed, or killed for food. It is simply not fair, moral, right or necessary to ever eat a lobster. Period.

Pescetarianism /ˌpɛskəˈtɛəriənɪzm/ (also spelled pescatarianism) or Pesco-Vegetarianism. It is the practice of following a diet that includes fish or other seafood, but not the flesh of other animals. Now, I just might be inclined to label myself accordingly if I must. But, I certainly will not ever choose to overindulge on the matter or ever eat a lobster. And, fresh-caught, unprocessed, nonfactory seafood will be my only option EVER. So if you have such conditions as Hypoglycemia or Diabetes & your daily dietary requirements are to have mostly fruit, complex carbs & protein, this Pescetarian diet might be suitable. (refer to protein chart; click on protein guide; see complex carb list)

These whole plant foods are great sources of complex carbohydrates:
  • Green vegetables.
  • Whole grains and foods made from them, such as oatmeal, pasta, and whole-grain breads.
  • Starchy vegetables such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, and pumpkin.
  • Beans, lentils, and peas.

The Native Americans were beautiful human beings that celebrated the sacred nature of everything. From the rock on the ground, to the fire in the pit, to the rain, to the sea, to sleep, to sex, to survival, to the humane hunt & kill of any living creature that had to die for the purpose of human nourishment. That animal was respectfully surrendered. That is the way it should be done, if indeed it must be done at all.

Our society has crowned the over indulgence of dead flesh…KING of our food pyramid. That is hypocrisy of the strongest sort. It’s a wrong recommendation & a wrong ideal. It is a lie. It is NOT the healthy best most nutritious option & choice.  And no longer do I believe that we have the right to even do such a thing! Why? it’s very simple. It is excessive, extremely violent, disrespectful to Mother Nature, greedy, lustful, gluttonous, & so goddamn UNNECESSARY for our survival. Not to mention, KILLING US ALL SLOWLY…via:

Cancer, diabetes, stroke, heart disease, high blood pressures, deficiencies, disorders, diseases, conditions, headaches, heart attack, anxiety, stress, illness, unrest, volatility, anger, arguments, abuse, pain, depression, sadness, grief, addiction, terminal illness.

Plants predominantly contain an extensive abundance & variation of phytonutrients, whereas the phytonutrients contained in meat products are fewer, as well as not even worth the risk of potential collateral damage to our bodies in the long run.

phy·to·nu·tri·ent
ˌfīdōˈno͞otrēənt/
noun
plural noun: phytonutrients
  1. a substance found in most plants which is believed to be beneficial to human health and help prevent various diseases.

In addition, a plant-based diet generally helps to minimize the consumption of Gmo’s, MSG, processed foods, artificial ingredients, harmful fat, cholesterol, & poisonous sugars which endanger the human body as opposed to nourish it, leading to sickness & disease. Not to mention… the following interesting example demonstrates how important it is for us to recognize that the food we eat becomes a part of us alchemically.

Fact: When a person donates say, a kidney to another person, the cells in that kidney are alive with the DNA that contains the memories of the donor. Studies show, that it is actually possible for the recipient to then experience emotional ties to the donor’s memories, simply because now he has the donor’s kidney melding with his own DNA, they integrate & mingle, & it truly is possible for the recipient to now experience the memory fragments contained in the cells of that organ.

When Deepak Chopra said: “We are what we eat” That is what he meant. He was simply saying that the energies of the living cells inside the particular food item that we choose to eat, are going to be inevitably transferred over not only to your body & digestive system, but also to your DNA, cell memory, neurons, and essentially acclimated to your life force energy…manipulating it accordingly. We do then in truth, indeed become what we eat.

group-pigs-called_4b3fc90d7588edb7

If a pig is screaming at the time of slaughter, in a state of fear & violent resistance, grief & torment… the toxic emotions will be inevitably stored in the pigs cellular DNA. No wonder why we continue to breed a race that continues to suffer, struggle & endure pain, sadness, & fear….BECAUSE WE CONTINUE TO EAT IT! It then becomes us.

When we fry that bacon up in the pan so innocently on Sunday morning & strategically place it next to the high fructose corn syrup smothered pancake & caged, non-organic chicken fetuses….whose hen mother was likely herded in an overcrowded pen, treated like shit, force-fed, stressed out, & shot with antibiotics……We are essentially feeding our loved ones toxic karma. What we were raised to believe is nourishment for our families is actually the complete opposite. Not only is dead flesh in fact dead as opposed to alive with life force energy… containing many toxic elements that contribute to heart disease & cancer…but, also its dead flesh is the harbinger of the likely experience of toxic emotion on some level. A significant amount of our experience of toxic human emotions could be directly related to the animals toxic cellular DNA memory during its imprisoned, herded, life & likely irrational, inexcusable, unnecessary, profane, immoral, painful, tragic, death. You get the picture. We are indeed….what we eat.

With that said, a plant-based diet is composed of mainly fresh, living, food options that contain vitality, living life force, natural vitamins & nutrients that exceed nutritional expectations. Consuming plant-based foods allows Mother Nature to pass the sacred gifts of all 4 life-giving elements over to us: Water; Air; Fire (Sun); Earth. When the cellular & molecular electric vibration of food that is plant-based & alive integrates with human DNA it is essentially blessing all the organs, blessing the body, blessing our vibration, blessing our health, wellness, & enhancing our human experience thereof. The superior alchemy of a plant-based diet is far more enchanting, energizing, nourishing, uplifting, elite & beneficial than any kind of omnivorous diet could ever possibly be. Period.

Cows, Pigs, ocean creatures have spirits & souls too. Not only do their bodies go through a series of unfortunate events when people capture & kill them, but their spirits get squeezed out of them with ungodly force. It’s disgraceful, deplorable & all of the above. All of the above doesn’t even cover it…actually.

I am so disgusted at how the vast majority of people in our modern day current society & pop culture just appear to accept such a false fascist based belief system without even question or research. What ever happened to individuality? Whatever happened to our ability to see beyond lies & manipulative brainwashing? We are not meant to be blind followers. We are creatures of light that were put here on Earth to rule it with kindness & grace. To have domain over all the Earth & its inhabitants is a powerful privilege & a sacred responsibility granted to humans for the purposes of harmony, health, wholeness & balance…not for the abuse of agriculture, animals & the elements… for the sole purpose of greed. That is unacceptable behavior on our part, as humans. I think we should seriously reconsider our approach to the acceptance of a dictatorship like this, endorsing false principles that the “powers that be” deem correct, proper, & honorable. There is NOTHING honorable in the murdering of an innocent creature. Nothing manly about eating a lifeless piece of dead flesh on a plate.

The acceptable belief that it is ethical to chemically induce, mass produce & then slaughter millions beyond millions of animals daily in our world, for justification’s dynamic duo of: unnatural mass human overconsumption & the almighty dollar……..Is not only absurd, but diabolical.

Yes, you heard me…..DIABOLICAL.

di·a·bol·i·cal

dīəˈbälək(ə)l/

Belonging to or so evil as to recall the Devil.

“his diabolical cunning” “his diabolical plans”

synonyms:

devilish, fiendish, satanic, demonic, demoniacal, hellish, infernal, evil,

wicked, ungodly, unholy.

You would have to be complete evil to harm this beautiful animal for only the purpose of self-gratification & material gain1399673924_eeec39dad5_zHence: Diabolical.

It’s WRONG.

Just like child abuse, just like rape, just like child pornography, just like human trafficking, just like slavery, just like terrorism, just like every single criminal act man’s government condemns. Animals have rights too. And the only thing that separates us from them, is the human ability to think about what we are thinking about. We are conscious creatures with the ability to choose, the freedom of will as they say. Just because every other species doesn’t have that feature, doesn’t make them less than valuable or lower their worth with regard to the eco-system. The fact that they have no free will, is actually more honorable, because all that really means, is that they have already passed through the gate of spiritual evolution, & now are in complete unflawed alignment with Universal law. They don’t need to think about it….they just act on the instinct of the higher mind for the good of all beings. period. No complexity in that, no drama, no argument, no resistance, just natural unadulterated freedom & flow. They are woven perfectly into the Divine design from the minute they are born to the minute they die. There is no such thing as malice or greed or hatred within the animal kingdom.

Humans were essentially endowed with the freedom of will & choice, for the sole purpose for us to have a dominant noble rulership over the Earth and all its inhabitants in a most harmonious zen-like fashion for the holy sole purpose of serving the greater good, the highest good of not only humanity, but nature, life & all of the Earth & it’s creatures.

People make excuses. People act like we NEED the protein that dead flesh contains. Or that we need the omega 3’s or the Iron, zinc or Vit D or calcium, in milk, eggs & seafood. But it’s NOT TRUTH.

mommys-milkWe can get all those nutritional benefits 100 fold from a plant based diet. Period. No argument. No excuse.

People tend to call Vegans weird, or hippies, or they stereotype vegetarians as a weaker, less dominant brand of humans. But that’s all bullshit. Stereotypes & labels are such an injustice to the breed of people that are brave enough to change their habits by practicing a good bit of old-fashioned self-discipline, & who are brazen enough to stand up for what is our moral & ethical duty as human beings walking upon this earth. These people are leaders, good examples, shining representations of what a true good human looks like. Don’t let any false prophet bully your mind to the contrary. We were put here to protect & serve animals just as we would do for each other. To behave in a manner that is anything less is sheer corruption, not to mention a most severe violation to the cardinal rule of Divine countenance…”Treat others as you would want to be treated.” Luke 6:31 & Matthew 7:12.

Don’t you dare tell me that if Jesus showed up on this Earth today in a suit & tie with a great haircut….he wouldn’t be in the form of a top notch RockStar NYC Attorney with one bad-ass entourage for the representation of Animal Rights Activists. What would Jesus do? Fucking bring them all down in a Court of Law…til bills were passed, new laws were made & enforced in every state & district, slaughter houses were all shut down & the factory farming industry was put out of its misery. The death houses would no longer exist, the ghosts of all the slaughtered animals would be free to ascend into the light, no longer would we be spraying massive chemicals on endless fields of wheat & corn & vegetation for the purpose of feeding the over population of farm animals. The Agriculture Industry (Agribusiness) would be flipped upside down & local organic family farms would be restored back to good health if that is even possible. Our whole economy would revolutionize, & the hedonistic meat industry would be ostracized accordingly. The media would be compelled to tell the truth. Genetically modified foods would cease to exist because the chemicals would no longer be legal. There would be a significant economic boost from the natural organic vegan/vegetarian market, fresh produce & products. The energy & vibratory frequency of our planet would rise, reboot, rebalance & realign naturally. We would minimize sickness, disease, ADHD, depression, suicide, crime, war, addiction, abuse, violence, sin, sickness, & death. We would revolutionize the planet & elevate our human consciousness & status to a whole new next level. the greenhouse effect & global warming epidemic would subside & so would obesity, stress, unrest, imbalance, laziness, conflict, mental & physical illness. We would be a happier healthier better more brilliant race. Period.

That’s admirable, wouldn’t you agree? I would love to be able to say to my grandchildren’s children, that I lived in a generation that changed the whole game here on Earth, & I am proud to have been an integral participant in the movement to save the planet.

Seriously, Jesus needs to show back up here. We could use a modern spin on the whole outdated religious ruse of faulty, backward creeds & codes built on fear & control. We need a new example to follow, some new witty quotes to toss around, some new codes & creeds to model ourselves after & pass on to our children… that don’t take a big giant heavy misunderstood book to prove, called “Bible.” A fresh clear explanation of things that hasn’t been translated countless times in 70 different languages, through a whisper down the lane formula that constantly is misinterpreted in every possible way imaginable.

Maybe, I will just write one. The New Bible….channeled by JZapp….from the higher dimensions.

Chapter Ten: Pack some snax, come follow the moon, catch a ride on the El-Train

Summary:
This chapter will tantalize your taste buds, make you smitten by nature, then bedazzle you with a visionary adventure of the coolest parts of the concrete jungle.
The reader will be truly indoctrinated by “Beautiful Feelings” and by the very amusement of this chapter. This is yet another one of the author’s colorful attempts to sweep the reader off their feet by serving them with a bounty of magnificent “Beautiful Feelings.” The author is a Culinary Arts graduate, which actually makes her a true authority on the subject of “snax.” She has a lot of fun with this one, and so will the reader.
The very last paragraph is actually the song lyrics to “Ghostbusters” from the 1980s motion picture film. It is humorously placed there as a sprightly segue to the final chapter, eleven…..which speaks of banishing the proverbial “ghosts” of past thought habits and patterns.

Almost home!

Stick around…
